About UsOwners, Rita Vranesic and Laura Zeppos have been in the food service industry for over 20 years. They became known for their Greek delights, including Baklava, Spanakopita and Rizogalo (Rice Pudding). Laura, being Greek, grew up with these things, while Rita helped to perfect the recipes to make them unique to their business. Both of them enjoy the healthy benefits of a fresh Mediterranean diet, and often use olive oils and balsamics in their own cooking and baking . Because there are no local suppliers, they would travel to other cities to purchase ingredients for use in their business and at home. In August of 2015, it was decided that it was time to introduce the Lebanon area to the oils, vinegars and other products that they use. In addition, they wanted to focus more on their Greek food offerings, hence the Aegean Table was born.
The Aegean Table brings to the area flavored oils and vinegars from the Sutter Buttes region of Northern California and Tunisia. You might ask...Why California and Tunisian olive oil? California has an excellent climate for growing olives. The Sutter Buttes area produces an olive oil that is smooth and mild in intensity making it the perfect foundation for infusing. The natural flavors of the infusions shine through and are not overpowered by the oil. Tunisia is one of the top olive oil producers in the world. It's olive oil is mild and sweet, making it perfect for infusions. Tunisia is leading the way in the industry with advancements in irrigation, and other systems to make the production of olive oil a greener process. Since 2018, Tunisian olive oil has won over 70 awards worldwide and has surpassed Spain in the amount of olive oil produced. However, when it comes to non-flavored olive oil, that is when they prefer the stronger, more robust olive oil of Greece. Laura's cousin, Katerina Zeppos, who came to this area from Greece, imports the oil directly from a supplier in her hometown, then has it bottled for us. Rita and Laura hope to share their love of good food by providing some of their most requested Greek dishes and foods. Additionally, they want to share with others the finest of ingredients for you to bring to your own table! |
